Recensie Richard Hawley

Richard

This year Positivus festival’s guests are true fans of British musicians, and really…what’s not to like? Richard Willis Hawley honored Positivus stage on Friday evening looking as handsome as always. Maybe it’s even possible to say that he is the George Clooney of music. Both of his parents were musicians so it’s obvious that the talent passed on to him. Richard has been writing songs since he was a little boy…and we are all thankful for that!

He opened his act with a simple, charming and deep - voiced “Hi”…it was calm like the sea. Anything that starts with a simple “Hi” can’t be anything else, but wonderful. After a lot of jumping up and down at the Hot Chip concert, Richard Hawley’s romantic and sentimental songs were exactly what everyone needed. Couples glanced at each other with hopeful eyes and connected with Hawley’s lovely performance. It was clear that he sang all of his songs for someone special. His music simply came from the heart and soul.

Despite the fact that Hawley has performed with artists like Lisa Marie Presley, with a band Pulp and Arctic Monkeys, he has stayed true to his rockabilly indie pop music genre and continued to share his multidimensional songs. The atmosphere at Positivus festival, while Hawley was performing, was like in the 1950’s – smooth, easy to listen to and everyone could almost feel last era’s luxury.

That kind of romantic feeling has never been experienced at Positivus festival before. As Hawley stated once himself: “I’ve only ever wanted to make music that’s soulful, that has some depth and heart in it”. Hawley for sure stays true to his wishes.
